Campus Tours

For 131 years, Savannah State University has been an important part of higher education. The 201-acre campus is by far the most picturesque in the state of Georgia. The moss-laden sweeping oak trees, expansive marsh and historic architecture create a resplendent yet tranquil atmosphere. Beneath the beauty and splendor is a vibrant residential campus bursting at the seams with the vim and vigor of quality collegiate life: relevant academic majors, engaging lectures, cutting-edge research, quality student-faculty engagement and a nurturing environment. We invite you to become a part of the SSU family.

Here are some things to keep in mind before scheduling a campus tour:

    • Guided campus tour schedules are based on the availability of student ambassadors.
    • All tours are walking for 60-90 minutes.
    • Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis.
    • Due to university protocol surrounding COVID-19, space is limited to allow for additional physical distancing. This will include limiting the total number of participants in reservations.
    • To maintain physical distancing procedures, we will not have access inside the residence halls, classroom or lab spaces.

    Guided Campus Tours (Family/Individuals)

    • Family, or individual, tours are defined as no more than 6 individuals total per reservation (i.e. the prospective student + 5 guests).
    • Family, or individual, tours tours are only conducted on Wednesday's and Friday's at the available times.

Guided Campus Tours (Group, 10+ persons)

    • Group tours are defined as 10+ persons, but are limited to no more than 30 students per organization (not including chaperones).
    • Group tours are only conducted Monday's at the available times.

    Self-Guided Campus Tours

Self-guided tour attendees will receive information about the university's admissions process and a detailed guide book that includes: history of the university, walking instructions, a campus map (with stop locations) and building images with descriptions.

    Open Campus Day

Consider joining us for Open Campus Day. This is the optimal day to view the campus as we will have guided tours and faculty/staff from our academic departments available to meet students! Look for the spring Open Campus Day date in January 2022.
